Since I feel like stirring the pot a bit...

Post by Arminius »

I have a proposal I would like our Rules Representative (congrats Monkey, glad I read E-Sam to know you got the job) and our King to consider for the COM at Clan.

I would like to propose a standardization of land sizes and award levels be added to the Awards Standardization proposal.

The logic for this proposal is that with the qualification being set for Crown belt to include Duchy-level, a standardized definition of how many regularly active members makes a Duchy is needed. The standardized definition cannot be drawn from the Contract of Amtgard, as the requirements have changed over the years. In reviewing the various Corpora's of Amtgard, and standardized definition cannot be drawn. As is, there is nothing stopping a kingdom from passing a change that makes 15 people make a Duchy, or on the other extreme, require 75 members.

In regards to standardizing the award levels a land can give, I think this is in the spirit of the Awards Standardization insomuch as it will help create unified criteria for knighthood. For example, I will use the award levels set by the GP corpora before the most recent change. If a person with 10 orders of the lion, 2 from their former kingdom and 8 from their former duchy of residence, moved to the kingdom, all it would take is a local PM who is a hard ass to say this person is busted back down to 4 when they moved to a barony under GP. If the kingdom PM and Monarch had a similar view, this person would have been massively penalized for moving, which they may have had little or no control over.

I am proposing the idea here, and open to healthy debate on the subject. I am open to proposals as to what land sizes and award levels should be set, but I strongly feel that there is a need for an Amtgard wide standardization of these two highly influential factors.
