Declaration of Intent and Bio for Uther Retheu Ironfist

As per the Corpora I have notified Prime Minister Zsadist of my intent to run for King. This is my public declaration and a short biography. Also included are some of the bigger items I will be tackling this next reign.

I have stood for the Kingdom of the Golden Plains since I first arrived here in July of 2011. Over the last almost 5 years I have served almost non-stop as an officer to this Kingdom. As you can see from positions I have held prior, I have much experience. I also continue to learn and grow as a leader as well. Each time I step forward I learn a little bit more and become a better leader.

This reign will offer several unique challenges which I am aware of and am already working on. Here are a few of them.

1. The new Kingdom Contracts will soon be issued for all kingdoms to sign to continue being a part of Amtgard. We will have items there to juggle and traverse I am sure.

2. The Garb Proposal by Sir Brennon. This proposal has had many people rise both for it and against it. I am sure it will be on the docket for the CoM meeting in July. I am going to do what I usually do for this item, I am going to let the Kingdom decide my vote on it.

3. The Kingdom 501 process. As was reported in the December minutes we are awaiting the Kingdom’s ein number. Once in hand the Kingdom will be opening a bank account with Wells Fargo. The account holders will be one of the executive committee, myself as I was appointed by the August althing to be a trustee for the account, and the Prime Minister who follows Thane Zsadist if she wishes. After the account is setup we will be on the final leg of our journey to becoming 501. This should all be finalized this next reign.

4. The Kingdom Corpora. As one of the three people who worked on 3.5 many complications and grey areas were found to exist. As we continue to work toward a complete and unified corpora more work will have to be done.

5. Recruitment and Retention. We have lost many of our most veteran players across the Kingdom over this last year. Many were due to Mundania, a few to inter-personal issues in the various groups, some just have no interest to play. That said, we must find more people to join us and play Amtgard. We can only be successful as long as people are coming out. The Kingdom will be sponsoring several initiatives to help this happen.

6. Fun. This is something a lot of people do not seem to be having in Amtgard anymore. I personally want as little “poltical” drama as possible this reign. It’s time we all grow up, act like the adults we are, and start Actually Playing Amtgard. After all if we aren’t having any fun, why are we still doing it? I will do everything within my power to promote fun for the next six months and do my best to ensure we are all happier at the end of it.

This is all I can currently think of. As always I am only human and I’m sure I missed a few things. I ask one thing of all of you. On February 7th Kingdom Quals and Warskill will be happening in Irongate. If it is possible, please come out and join in the festivities of the day. Amtgard is only fun when people come out and have fun playing Amtgard. Quals and Warskill are a vital part of our Game. They help us see the commitment of those who seek to lead, they let us exercise our voting powers as dues paid for any contested elections, and if needed, one of the dues paid present may be asked to serve as a pro-tem Kingdom officer should the need arise. So, please come out if you can.

I am getting excited for this next reign. It is beginning to look like a lot of change is coming for the game as a whole and I would be honored to guide us through it.
