Labor Day Demo

Post by Outsider »

We've been OK'd to do a demo on Labor Day (Sept. 7th, the day after the Corn Maze) at the Lubbock Central Labor Council annual Labor Day Picnic out at Mackenzie Park. I haven't set up an official time yet, but it should be and excellent way for us to get our name out there, and a good place to make connections for a skilled trade if anyone is looking. Let me or Lady Sanithia know if you're interested in attending!

Okay.. So, I stand Corrected. Irongate Iron Chef is the 6th (duh), the Corn Maze is the 5th X_x Labor Day is the 7th, and that's the day of the demo.

I stand corrected.

Also on Labor day the Amarillo RAKs Bellydancers are going to be performing at the cultural festival in Pampa. It's a HUGE event the whole town closes down and everyone in town plus from all the neighboring towns go. Any and all bellydancers are welcome to come and perform, we have 2 different slots of stage time to fill in the morning and early afternoon

Chataqua starts at 9:00am and the first dances are at 11:00am and the second at 1:00. It's being held in central park, trust me you can't miss it.

Anyone from amtgard is welcome to come in garb and do demo fighting or battlegames. Anyone who went to the short lived park in Pampa, well, the event is being held at the same park so there will be lots of room to play and lots of people to watch. I'll be running a couple of booths since the bellydancers will need a place to change and I'll also be working a booth with the search and rescue dogs as well as running equipment and other events so I'll make sure everything and everyone is taken care of.

I'm working on getting us free food and beer. Shouldn't be a problem.

mine isnt directly amtgard related, it's mostly for bellydancers.

There will be free food for performers and non-profit organizations but no alcohol in public parks... can't compete with that.

Okay, moving along past all this, we are getting free food and drinks (including beer) at the picnic. Our demo is supposed to be scheduled for 5:30 which is after the food is served and political candidates get to do their schpiels, but please try to show up around 2:00 to eat and set up our area. I'm trying to convince them we don't necessarily need a set time to demo, which is why we might be having a special guest at the field on sunday the 30th: Billy Martinez, from the Central Labor Council, he is the person that I am in contact with for the picnic, and I want to show him what we do.

Again, the picnic is at Mackenzie state park, but I don't know exactly where. I'll post it as soon as I get the exact location.
