I very strongly disagree with removing Arch Duchy and County land definitions. While not amtgard wide, it does make us unique among the other kingdoms, and many of those I've talked to amtgardwide actually are intrigued with the concept of a County. County and Arch Duchy represent realistic growth and recruiting goals for provinces in our kingdom to strive for and achieve.

However, I would personally have no issue with a reform of the current award limitations and titles for field size.

For example, according to the current corpora, a Shire in Golden Plains can only give up to the 1st Order of an award. However, a Freehold under Burning Lands can give up to 2nd level, and they stay a freehold regardless of size. We are currently disallowing Shire's under the Kingdoms banner to award as many levels than a standard Freehold, while a thriving Barony can only award as many. I find this to be very unfair, and deserving of reform.

Wretch,

I am open to suggestions on how to keep County in play, but If we set the awards given by land size on a level playing field with other kingdoms, what level of award would you think they should give? This is the dilemma I faced on the proposal. My main concern is that as currently set, our order ladders are heavily skewwed in regards to the rest of the game. The point of the Awards Standardization was to make a much more uniform system, and yet we have legislated a way to bypass that. I do not feel this is fair, or in the spirit of the Rules of Play's Award Standardization section.

As for Grand Duchies, every other kingdom uses this level as a precursor to Kingdom much in the same regard as a Principality. I have no problem leaving them in if we adjust to this concept as well. I would love to see GP one day lay ground work for a new kingdom. Again, my concern is a level playing field in regards to order ladders.

My proposal was what I saw as the easiest fix to the situation. If someone comes up with a proposal that would comply with both the spirit of the Awards Standardization and work Counties and Grand Duchies into the corpora, I could easily be swayed to support it.
