Kingdom Allthing Minutes - January 2009
As soon as we can get them to the BOD they will be there. It is my understand that people have volunteered to get them worked out and up to Kat next week. Please no why wasn't that done in the first place like it should have been . We have already established the screw up and accepted blame for it. So there is no further need to rub salt in it.

I've been thinking about this non-stop for the past 2 days. I think that I have come up with a nice booklet for the pm's of all the groups (if they want to use them of course) It has a place for 3 months of sign ins, 3 allthing minutes, dues paid list, awards list, and bank ledger. I will have copies bound and sent out if the pm's are interested in receiving one. When I was Kingdom PM I had all my sign in sheets bound together in a notebook and it made things really easy. If I missed a sign in, i just stapled the one I missed into that weeks place. I set it up for a 3 month period so that the groups can either send in the original, or make a copy and send it in and it should have a place for everything needed to pass the Audits. PM's Please contact me if you are interested in receiving one.

I would like to thank everyone contributing to this thread. It does show the concern we all have for DO and its future. Having just read this all (2 days after the allthing) and running through the six pages. I am happy to see DO's willingness to get the records in. Kingdoms continued concern that that DO be a vibrant participant in the Kingdom as a whole and their well being as a group. Also, I am very happy to see (as GMR) every groups concern that the corpora was followed and that no bounds were overstepped. Theres no reason to have laws if they are not followed.
To address some of the concerns I have seen posted let me start off with..

which certainly means the allthing would and did take up a vote concerning DO. Yes a little vague but well within the boundries IMHO of announcing a vote would be taken.
As for stripping knights belts, awards etc. that wasnt done everyone has the titles and awards they all worked so hard for and rightly so. Not being to vote in Kingdom Allthings was a big concern but not one the people of DO havent faced before by not having the quarterly records in. So nothing really happened there. The no new knightings and monthly contact are the only "new things" DO faces and It looks like by this thread the contact for this month has already been taken care of. All awards and titles minus knighthood are still able to be given out just now it is with Monarchs permission. Which i dont beleive is a big deal personally because i know at least the last 5 monarchs have given out 90% of the awards that have been actually suggested to them by the satellite groups. To my detriment i did it so much i actually gave out titles to people that already had that perticular one <grimaces>.
As to making it to an allthing i understand the restrictions of jobs, families and money. fortunatelty in a group of 12 people you only have to make it to one allthing a year for ones particular park to have a parkactive member there to represent you. nd by extension someone there that will let you know exactly what was said and by who. (bring pen and paper so there arent misquotes ) allthing minutes can be very vague such as this last allthing that took an hour and a half because all this was discussed thouroughly not railroaded through.
Yes many audits are done at the persons business/residence. But those are done when the person is known to be there ie: they sleep there or they work there. there are no such benefits to amtgard. Noone knows for sure what day if any the current monarchy will be at the park. In this case notification by phone, email, forums is the best way.
Finding myself maybe making a 7th page. ill end with this.
i beleive the next allthing date and directions to the new park are posted call me if they arent (806) 674-8014 i will give you directions or an address across from the park you can put into your mapquest I do hope to see at least one person from all parks there. Please be sure the quarterly reports from your park are in so you can vote on things. And even if they arent in please feel free to speak your mind in the allthing (in an orderly fashion) everyones always been free to speak their mind. All groups make a kingdom.
I like the ostrich hat idea but id switch it to ostritch boots they are easier to find and harder for the young kids to run in.[/quote]

This whole matter has basically been over DO complaining because they were punished for not doing what they were suppose to, and you know it's bad when even one of their own vote against them, just so something could get done.
But, there are other groups within the kingdom and I haven't seen much on here from them.... I'm just wondering if we're going to have this same problem with another group during another audit. Are there any other groups out there that think they may need more time? Especially groups that have had trouble submitting records and taxes and may be facing similar consequences?
Maybe a friendly reminder should be e-mailed or PMed to the officers so they can't complain that they didn't have enough time, advance notice, or say that they haven't been on to read the forums.

Nothing to do with going camping once or twice or ten times a year with other people that like to hit others with foam sticks and make stuff. Nothing. Zip. Zero. Nada. And that is what most people, especially in the subgroups, are in Amtgard to do. To play the game. To escape from mundania a few hours per week. Most people...not all...but many come on here if/when there is a.) a question they want answered from those that babysit the forums and/or b.) when there is this type of drama. Most of the time, when everything is kosher...no one gives two hairs off a rats ass what is going on here. You, dear reader, may not like that fact or appreicate the disregard that most in the subgroups have for the forums, but that is the plain and simple fact. This board, this thread, these postings have NOTHING to do with battle gaming or whomping on friends for fun.
If it is expected that we, the minor populace, read up on the forums everyday, you might want to put that in the by-laws. You might want to enforce via Corpora (where most people get their rules of how to go about things in GP) that officers at least need to check here every day or every week or every month to take that information back to their subgroups. You have a quiet expectation, but nothing set in stone. 80% of what is written on this forum has no bearing on the subgroups and their park days...it is silliness, chit chat or rant and bitch sessions. Information on upcoming Kingdom wide events? Cool...questions about weapons or a special circumstance in a game? Sure...after they ask everyone else they know and it is a 50/50 split vote...other than that? Mmmmm not really. I am guilty myself of pretty much hopping on when there is a.) drama pertaining to DO in some way shape or form and b.) when I get an email saying I have a private message. Checking the forums has nil to do with going out on Sunday afternoons to the park.
THAT would be why alot of what you consider pertinent enough information to post here doesn't make it to say...Nine Willows or DO half the time. There is a refusal to communicate in any other way from the north. And there is the belief that this is the Holy Grail of GP. So much so that we in fact cannot depend on the accuracy of Corpora any longer because rules can change during any all-thing. We are told to not vary from Corpora...that is drilled in our heads...except for the spoken footnote of "All-things decisions trump Corpora."
NPOs are political...all of them are...from Amtgard to the Amaerican Lung Association to Meals on Wheels...and every NPO has a central group of the righteous and every NPO has some sort of badlands that do not take the ever fickle written and ever changing rules of engagement.
However, let it also be stated, the every NPO has to open their voting abilities and election opportunities to ALL members...not just some. Refusing to accept votes from ALL members on decisions such as who runs the organization...especially if it was/is a written by-law that all members may vote on such decisions. Failure to do so violates your NPO acceptance papers. Yes, the by-laws from what I have read stipulate that members must be active (8 or more sign ins in the last 6 months) and dues paid in order to vote. However, according to your own by-laws, if you are rendered proof of current activity and proof of current dues payment within 1 week of an election or when placing your intent to run for an office...then that vote MUST count. "(a) Each member of an organization, regardless of class, is entitled to one vote on each matter submitted to a vote of the organizations members, except to the extent that the voting rights of members of a class are limited, enlarged, or
denied by the certificate of formation or bylaws of the organization." Failure to do so, especially if/when reported to the Secretary of State Office and or Attorney General's office, jeopardizes your NPO status and therefor your contract with Burning Lands as an incorporated Kingdom.
Besically, if the by-laws (aka Corpora) say individuals have a right to votes...and there is no stipulation IN CORPORA which are your by-laws where rights to votes can be stripped for records violations...well then, you literally cannot legally strip DOs right to vote, nor their knights votes.
Don't beleive me? Read up on Texas State Non-Profit Organization Law.

I've been trying to stay away from this but this last post pissed me off.
First of all you said this has nothing to do with Amtgard, Since when are the field records and everything that goes on for the field, not a part of amtgard. It's not all just fighting and A&S. So your point there is invalid.
You know as a member of a subgroup I do take time to read the forums so I know whats going on as a whole in the kingdom. I check before my althing every month so I can relate to my field on everything going on in the kingdom, so those that dont look will at least know whats coming up. GP isn't the only group that posts thier events and happenings on here. There is a forum for every group and some of us post on there. Just because DO and NW choose not to us the forums doesn't exclude ya'll from whats going on. The majority of ya'll do have access and it takes all of a few min to see whats going on, that's ya'lls fuck up nobody elses.

Just out of curiosity, is it possible that we have an Allthing at Tri-midreign. Just asking if it is doable. We are already getting great numbers for these events and this upcoming one is going to be a blast. Why not try it out. We would then have more than one person from each group there (hopefully). A great turn out where we know all groups would have great representation, and if it turns out well we could continue it to where we have an allthing at one of the Tri- events every three months or six months.
Can this happen?
P.S. the records are being taken care of. I think everything that can be said on either side or even the middle has been said. We don't need to beat a dead horse, or drag it through our living rooms for that matter.

Failure to communicate with each other.
This forum has EVERYTHING to do with playing the game. How often do you encourage your players to get on the forums and actively participate in the discussions going on? Do you do anything on your lands list other than announce your events? Do you participate in discussions about things gong on in other subgroups or the kingdom proper? Do you post a message about a regular meeting just to give an update?
Or do you wait till shit hits the fans before you start communication with the rest of the Kingdom?
DO has historically had an issue with getting their records turned in. During the time I was living in the Kingdom, I believe the two lands we had in Illinois turned in their records more often than DO did. While I think the punishment is a hair too harsh, I think it has been a long time coming.
And while communication specifically on this forum is not in the Corpora, communication both in person and long distance are rquired by GP's corpora (refer to sections 7.2 and 7.3 for all the details).

This is nothing more than a feeble attempt to scare people into changing the sanctions that are imposed. It has been noted that these sanctions were made part of the corpora, and therefore part of the bylaws. Even before then, the corpora has a stipulation directly under the two you listed: they must be on the sign-in sheet for that election. And further down, it states that a group must turn in their records to be verified by the Prime Minister. The punishment as I see it adheres to all necessary sections of the bylaws. Your point about Texas NPO laws is not valid because the restrictions being placed on DO have baises in the corpora.
It seems to me that GP Proper wants the same thing of its subgroups now as it did 6-7 years ago when I was living there: Communication, and group records sent in regularly.
Just as a side note:
In terms of the records, I think it would help the kingdom greatly if all the sublands regularly used the ORK (www.amtgardrecords.com). If they are kept up on a regular baises, much of what is being asked for in these audits, and the regular records update, is available to the Kingdom PM with a click of a button. If it is inputted regularly, it can even be used to generate sign in sheets if they become lost. This is why the Rising Winds requires it subgroups to use the ORK and update it at least monthly by corpora.

So Lyra that would be why i didn't get the PM you sent and then deleted. Of course at any time I could have been reached and told about that. Crimson could have too, as could have Smile and Renity. Did that happen, no. Why? Because it is our responsibility to go find out when someone else wants something, instead of throwing caution to the wind and dialing a phone. How finished are the records? I can have them as up to date as is possible in a few days. What does "as up to date as is possible" mean? It means that there is a great deal of information missing. Who's fault is it? Well you can point fingers at every PM and person who ever held the records in the last 10 years.
As for this allthing and what has come out of it. Ridiculous is the least I can say, and let me clarify right now I speak for myself not for Dark Oasis, let's not confuse that. As the validity and legality of this ruling has been called into account then until such time as this has been resolved I don't think it applies and Dark Oasis should not be subject to them. I am not Dark Oasis so what Dark Oasis will say I don't know, we'll see what comes up this weekend at our Allthing.

I am not Dark Oasis so what Dark Oasis will say I don't know, we'll see what comes up this weekend at our Allthing.

And as for people not getting there belts? It's bullshit, plain and simple. But of course qualified people have not been getting belts for quite some time so no difference there.

Here's the thing... everyone is very defensive because everyone feels like they are being blamed for this. The facts are Kingdom voted on the facts that were presented at the allthing. They are as follows DO had a audit. They had a deadline, and the records were not sent in and there was no contact made to say why or ask for more time by anyone. The last message we got on it was from Crimson saying that she had 2 weeks of in December and she would help get to work on it. I completely understand that the holidays are busy and that you have a new family member on the way and that complicates things a lot. That being said the I didn't know excuse from Turanko is hard to swallow because Crimson and Turanko live together. So we assume (i know it is not cool to assume, but what would you think) that Turanko is up to date on what is going on in the Forum. ( I do have to say that for a group that doesn't check the forum, It only took a couple of hours after the allthing minutes were posted for LOTS of people to know what was happening in DO)
I was defensive because we were attacked by SMiley. He pissed me off, and I'm not gonna lie. He acted like it was kingdom's fault that your records were not turned in and that is beyond words to me.
I appreciate crimson for saying i'm not the PM, but i should have said something. I think that is cool as shit. As for the records, Kingdom knows that DO's records are a mess. We have listened to it for about a year now and the audit was not meant to be a punishment. It was more meant to see where you stood and what could be done about it. So we did not expect perfect records and we don't expect them to be perfect now. We expect that you get them in ASAP. And I believe that will be taken care of before the week is out. Cool.
It is up to the KNIGHTS of the GOLDEN PLAINS to decide who is qualified for a KNIGHTS belt, that is why it is so special. If you have suggestions for who we should look at why have you not said anything to the circle. We are an open circle and will listen and discuss any suggestions. If you feel we are missing someone and YOU don't say anything that is YOUR problem NOT the circle's.

Really What active member does this really Effect in Dark oasis?? all i can think of is ME i'm the only one that is qualifyd and Active/ dues paid that this really Effects.. so unless your bitching that the circle isn't going to concider knighting me then please Shed some light on someone else that in fucks sake is qualifyed or will be quald in the next year!!!! Just to add something else to the fire who in dark oasis would be More "qualifyed" than me to recive their first belt other than me being double qualified for my Sword belt and Qualifyed for my Serpent belt.. you would think the knights of GP were looking at anyone from DO to get knighted they wouldn't have let this pass during the vote.. Smiley - the allthing at tri midreign is kinda tricky because in the corpora it says that for a vote to be valid it has to be in the kingdom seat. so we can have a big towns meeting at the midreign (i think that it will probably sour the event seeing as how heated everyone is on this particular topic), but no vote would be able to be taken on anything. At least that is how it was explained to me (not a big corpora expert)

That is understandable I was just wondering. I still think it may open up better lines of communication between all fields. These are growing pains, key word grow.
