Greetings all,
This month's workshop on Sunday, June 28, will be needle felting.
Needlefelting involves using a special barbed needle to attach fibers to a base fabric. This is an easy way to make belt favors and appliques.
I will have materials on hand for people to make a small project. I have plenty of wool in a variety of colors for small favors, however I only have a few cushions available. I will also have acrylic felt sheets and some needles.
If you would like to bring your own, here is a basic list to get you started:
-felting needles - if buying a multi tool, I reccomend the smaller 3 needle tool(Hobby Lobby and Jo-ann Fabrics both carry them)
-wool fibers -wool roving( Hobby Lobby sells multi color packs, Jo-Ann only sells singe colors)
-backing fabric: polyester fleece, acrylic felt, wool blend felt, or wool felt
(Hobby Lobby sells 100% wool felt pieces that can be found with the needlefelting supplies)
-cushion work surface- This will be placed behind the backing fabric as you work and should be at least 2 inches thick and no smaller than 4" x 4". Suggestions for cushions are open cell foam and old pillows.
-design templates- stencils and cookie cutters work great for those who don't want to freehand the design
